In reading this… the first time reality has set in for me. It’s not a question of “If AGI” bit “when”. And the answer might well be “yesterday”.
Still very much a question of “if” they’re just extremely optimistic.
If by AGI you mean an AI who can do a a bunch of tasks as good as a human most of the time, sure.
If you mean conscious and capable of independent volition, probably not.
If by AGI mean a matrioshka-level super intellect Roko’s Basilisk, no.
